I already explained how to deploy an appliance anyway – so feel free to check out another article I have written HERE.
vShield Manager is now technically VMware vCloud Networking and Security, or at least vShield Manager is part of it:)
One thing is new compared to older versions – you can now specify the CLI and Enable password during the deployment, rather than later through the console (if this is the first time you install it, then never mind :p)
The start-up will take a while, so get a coffee or tea 🙂
Once up, log in with admin and the password you specified and go into enable mode by typing en and hit Enter
Now start the setup in order to configure the network
As you can see you will be asked to logout and login again.
Do this and after about 5 minutes you should be able to browse to the web-interface.
Default login : un:admin / pw: default
First thing to do – change the default password. The passwords configured during the deployment only applies to the console login.
Configure the Lookup Service
Click Edit
Enter your SSO details and hit OK
Accept the certificate, click Yes
Now register your vCenter – click Edit once more
Enter your vCenter details here and click OK
Accept the certificate, click Yes
You will likely see a security popup on your vSphere client too as vShield will push the plugin through
At this stage you should see your cluster in vShield
This is technically done now. What I will do next, rather than progressing with the vCloud Director configuration, is configuring VXLAN.
You will have to do this here in the vShield Manager anyway and the default Network Pool will use VXLAN.
Unless already configured, the default pool will have an error – not an issue, but “while we here” we may as well go ahead.
Installation of vCD 5.5 content
